Welcome!
Hydrogen and carbon are the two essential elements for organic molecules, and we aim to use these two elements to synthesize new arrays of molecules (polycyclic arenes) within a conjugated framework to obtain interesting optoelectronic properties and tunable ground state characteristics! Our research group is actively involved in the structural design, synthesis, molecular structure, and physicochemical property studies of new organic π-conjugated molecules/materials with the potential for optoelectronic applications.
Our group started functioning in Aug 2019 with one Ph.D. student. Currently, we are a group of 5 Ph.D. and 2 project students. Presently, our main research activity is to synthesize interesting π-conjugated systems (for example, Indacenodifluorene isomers having isoelectronic motif of octacene are rare in literature which is one of our current research projects; see our Chem. Commun. 2020) using the art of synthetic organic chemistry, and guided by the density functional theory calculations.
